Great steelbook, film... Meh

4

The steelbook is one of the nicest to come out for a long time and for real fans of the film this is a no brainer. The 4k transfer of the film is also very good. Not the best I've seen but definitely an upgrade and some of cityscapes and colours look outstanding. Sadly for me, the film itself was not as good as I remembered. I used to love this film as a teenager, but I felt pretty uninspired watching it again. It's a beautifully imagined world but the plot just feels extremely rushed and throwaway after a promising first 30 minutes. Gary Oldmans character is virtually inconsequential and there is a lack of a serious antagonist. The stakes never feel very high and there is very little in the script for character development. Nonetheless, it's still a solid 3 stars and perfectly fine to switch off and enjoy some solid action and visuals.

It's a 4K Steelbook!

The artwork on the case is very nice, though I have seen better 4k transfers of older movies. But as this is one of my favourites...

The Fifth Element

This is a film which I have had in my collection for many years and which I thought I knew well, but seen in 4K it's like seeing it for the first time. The film is sharper, brighter and you can see every detail. I loved this film when I had it on DVD and will now be able to enjoy it for many more years. The limited edition steelbook is an added bonus.

Sublime

We all know the film, and for me remains Bessons biggest masterpiece, it’s a 10/10 everyday of the week. The 4K quality is outstanding and cant say ive seen the film in a better light. The steelbook is beautiful and the artwork (hats off to the artist) is fantastic and will have you staring at it for ages. All in all an amazing piece and what i would describe as a must own.

Good product, but...

This steelbook has very nice graphics, but colors are a little pale. I would love it if they were more vivid. Movie is really fantastic and it looks great in 4K. There are absolutely no extras on disk, which is a a shame. But my biggest complain is no polish subtitles. I understand that it is UK release, but extra subtitles take almost no space on disk and i would like to see them included. Overall is worth buying in my opinion.

The Fifth Element

Lately zavvi have been way off the mark with the designs they've been throwing out for the steelbook collectors. This one however is superb! Nice attention to detail in the artwork which captures the feel of the film very well, no exaggerated titles or ugly banners getting in the way, just great art. Film title is on the spine. If your a steelbook collector you can't go wrong with this one. The actual film itself is very good with some great performances from the cast.

The Fifth Element.

5

Beautifully designed, well thought out and presented in its rightful place as a steelbook. A film that despite its best efforts has always seemed to sit under the radar, until now. Now sitting firmly on the best shelf in my steelbook collection, the Fifth Element has achieved look at me status as the artwork screams out quality. Picture quality is pin sharp and sound from the discs are bounced around my home cinema with fabulous accuracy making this a film to watch again and again. Rated a strong five star and an absolute must for any steelbook collector.
