Superb boxset
5This blu ray would make the perfect gift for the horror aficionado in your life. Texas Chainsaw 2 is to Texas Chainsaw 1 what Evil Dead 2 is to Evil Dead 1: a manic, high energy follow up. Both veer off the originals straight horror template into something approaching cartoony monstrosity. As with Evil Dead 2, Texas Chainsaw 2 moves fast, barely pausing for breath and goes over the top. The boxset contains the full UNCUT movie in all its uncensored glory. Picture quality is good and sharp. The picture has a nice grainy look that never compromises the quality. There's two other discs highlighting some of Hooper's early works complete with interviews and the like. The set also contains a lavish booklet, postcard and individually numbered cert. This is a great package. For those who are put off by the negative critics reviews of this, kudos must be given to Hooper for doing something different. He could have made the same movie again but chose to go down a different bombastic and surreal path. And the actress Caroline Williams playing the heroine in hell puts in a fantastic and charismatic performance. In a nutshell, if you like Evil Dead 2 you will like this.

4Great set and features, nice Arrow release and individually numbered card inside. Not the best film but good quality box set and nicely done

5It's from Arrow, so you know it is going to be a good edition. The film itself is not as good as the original, but it is fun

The Saw Is Family
5Tobe Hooper's 1986 sequel to his original 1974 classic is given the definitive blu-ray treatment in Arrow's 3 disc 'Ultimate' edition. The set includes two blu-ray discs; the movie itself plus a fair chunk of extras on disc 1 which is region B locked; two early movies from Hooper on disc 2 which is region free and the same material repeated on disc 3, a region free DVD. The movie itself probably needs little introduction to would be punters, suffice to say it was too over the top for the UK censors in '86. It's a thrill ride of excess both in terms of grossness, wit and very black humour. The image and sound quality are terrific and in terms of the extras it beats the US release hands down. This is probably the best treatment this movie is going to get prior to a 4K release, so if you love the franchise grab it now, it's a limited edition. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the 96 page book which also comes with the package - good stuff.

A Great Package of a Highly Opinionated Movie
5TCM2 will always be classed down in history as a questionable movie. The return of Tobe Hooper prompted a lot of promise that audiences would be freaked out a second time after the extreme TCM. Unfortunately that was not the case. This movie is far from what the original movie is about. Gone is the intensity & suspense that made the first movie outrageous. What you are left with is a subtle 80's horror flick with minimal scare factor which focuses more on putting you off the family itself with their twisted way of life as opposed to extreme torture. Over the years, this movie has been accepted as it is by many fans including myself. There are elements that make for Hooper's signature directing which ou will find appealing. This package is also quite superb. Boasting the great slipcovers as well as the bonus Blu-Ray which includes Hooper's earlier works. You also get a small booklet crafting some great photos of the movie and offering great insight. This in all with a limited card showing each box set to be individually numbered. (Limited Edition) If you are a fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, then this is without doubt the definitive edition to buy!

A Misunderstood Classic
5Just purchased this brilliant edition for a great price of £11.99! A film which many dismissed upon its release for being so starkly different to the original. They missed the point that Hooper was in fact taking a different more comical direction and almost parodying the original's seriousness. The cover of the film is the Breakfast club for gods sake!! Blu ray quality is excellent , 3 discs with awesome special features! Buy this now!!

5Tobe Hoopers own Follow up to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre gets a new Blu-ray release thanks to Arrow Films getting five stars because it also contains Tobe Hooopers earlier works namely the heisters a ten minute short film parody of AIP Roger Corman works and also a good feature lengh documentary "It runs in the Family" and the package also has a good hundred page booklet detailing the films history at the BBFC and looks at other Chainsaw films in a very good release.

Great little set
5I'm really impressed with this little set that Arrow Video have just recently released. Comes with 2 Blu-ray discs, one being the movie and the other containing two short films from Tobe Hooper's earlier days, which are 'Eggshells' and 'The Heisters'. These short films are also included on a third DVD disc. The main prize here is the 100 page booklet based on the making and legacy of the film. The transfer for the movie is very solid, detail is sharp, colours are vibrant and the image contains just the right level of grain. I was also impressed with the LPCM 2.0 audio, very clear, with sounds such as background noise that I've never heard before! Now onto the extras, this movie has a great selection of special features, included are - an extensive making about the film with interviews from cast and crew, two commentaries (one by director Tobe Hooper), a couple of featurettes and to finish it off is a few deleted scenes, image gallery and the trailer. Overall a fantastic set at a great price! It's also Limited Edition, limited to 10,000 sets I believe, so each set comes with its unique number printed onto a small postcard.
