Another fairly decent but far from exceptional release
4As with most steelbook releases these days, as seems to be the case, this is a fairly decent effort but could have been so much better. The original blu-ray steelbook release from a few years ago had some nice embossing and overall looked more of a premium product than this version does.

Eastwood's Greatest Western
5I am not going to review the film because most will know it's Clint Eastwood's best Western if not best film. I have owned this film on VHS, DVD and Blu Ray and I can tell you this 4K remaster is the best I have ever seen the film. The is greater detail to the picture but it's not over done like some films the colours look more realistic compared to the Blu Ray version release from a few years back. No Dolby Atmos track which is bit disappointing but the DTS HD track does a good enough job. No new extras here they are all on the standard Blu Ray and are all from the earlier release.

The Great Western Swan Song!
5We can all agree, that “Unforgiven” is a classic and is still a very powerful western swan song for the great Clint Eastwood. I know that the artwork of this 4K steelbook has received a lot of negative feedback, but I really like it. I think the design has wonderful colours to it and I like how the artwork is all about William Munny (Eastwood) and Ned Logan (Morgan Freeman), as the film is all about the two old friends on the road to redemption for their wrong deeds of the past. This masterpiece looks amazing in 4K and it’s the best it’s ever looked, well worth the upgrade from standard HD. Thanks Zavvi for a fantastic steelbook and I’m so glad that it’s now in my collection.

Great film, abysmal art
1Why is steelbook art getting worse and worse? This is utter rubbish. If it's so time-consuming and expensive to commission original designs, then simply use the original poster art, which I reckon is what most collectors want anyway.
