Captain Marvel Clothing

Fly higher with Zavvi UK’s wide range of Captain Marvel clothing. Officially licensed and designed in house, these products — which include T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies — are must-have additions to any fan’s wardrobe. As well as drawing inspiration from the comic books, they feature stylish prints based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The Original Avenger

In the comics, the moniker of Captain Marvel has been occupied by various individuals, the first of whom was Mar-Vell. A member of the Kree military, he was stationed on Earth to monitor humanity’s technological advancement, particularly their development of space-capable transport. However, after learning that his superiors had harmful ambitions, he defected and assumed the role of a superhero, using his cosmic abilities to defend his adopted planet.

Carol Danvers, the character most associated with the name, was a colleague of Mar-Vell — going by the name of Dr. Walter Lawson — prior to becoming a superhero, the pair both working on a restricted military base. She received her powers from an explosion triggered by a Kree device, and although she didn’t immediately claim the aforementioned title, she did become a defender under an alternate identity: Ms. Marvel. Her transition to Captain Marvel wasn’t complete until 2012, when Kelly Sue DeConnick started a new ongoing series by that name. Abandoning her previous costume, Danvers began wearing a military-style jumpsuit, though she retained her usual colour scheme and sash.

In alignment with the modern comics, the MCU introduced Danvers (played by Brie Larson) as the red-and-blue hero for Captain Marvel (2019). Audiences meet the character when she is an amnesiac living on the planet Hala, the capital of the Kree Empire. Having no knowledge of her previous life, she has adopted the name Vers and started to serve her new people as a member of Starforce. To this end, she fights against the Skrulls, a race of green-skinned aliens capable of shapeshifting, but everything changes after she is captured during a mission, the leader of the Skrulls (Ben Mendelsohn) revealing that she hails from Earth.
