Old school? Yes. Overly difficult? No.
5A throwback to old school gaming, Dark Souls forces you to learn from your mistakes, memorise attack patterns and punishes user error. A wonderful experience in comparison to the hand holding in most games of today. The game requires 100% focus and concentration and as such you may miss the environment and how cleverly crafted it is. Once you start moving from area to area you realise what a work of genius this is. This game has the best combat system of any video game I have ever played, you start feebly under powered but later on when you are swinging a flaming sword at your enemies, and blocking attacks with a massive shield you feel like you could take anyone on. While it may not be for everyone, I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a challenge.

Amazingly hard... but amazingly good :)
5Get ready to die. A lot! But what a pleasure to finally kick the ass of that giant dragon or the black knight, with the help of fellow adventurers online. This game is very challenging, probably one of the most difficult I've played in the last 15 years. However, everytime you defeat a boss, you will feel really proud of yourself. The online part is very well thought and very useful. Just be careful as some people might give you wrong information to trap you or to get you to die one more time. Definitely a must have. A very demanding, tough game, but it is worth it. And guess what. Once you are done with it, you can start the adventure again, but with even stronger enemies.

5This game is difficult but persistence apparently will help. I've still to experience this unfortunately but the game keeps dragging me back! The online mode is different with people either invading to kill you, leaving helpful or sometimes unhelpful messages on the ground, or they come in and help you with some of the more difficult enemies. You can of course do the same to other players. There's no easy road in this game and no pauses, apart from at bonfires where all the smaller enemies you meet respawn to make your life even more difficult. Still, highly recommended.

Best RPG - 2011
5Dark Souls is the best RPG of 2011. It is a hard game to beat, offering many hours of fun in which you can discover the world of souls. Be warned, if you are to complete Dark Souls you will have to be strong enough and spend many hours trying. The game has a big open world packed full of secrets to discover and the graphics have been improved by some blur effects, which make it even more beautiful.

What a Game !!
5This game is amazing, very addictive and worth every penny. At first I did not enjoy it, it is challenging, died a lot but for some reason I never give up, the difficulty does not seem to put you off, I learnt the way you are supposed to play the game, defending, attacking, magic etc, now I cant put this game down. I Recommend it to anyone that wants a challenging open world game!

Death death death
5Awesome game but only play it if you have PATIENCE. You will DIE, and you will die A LOT. It's a game of timing & tactics, make one mistake and you will be watching the deaths screen again. One of the best RPGs on the xbox though, very rewarding when you reach new areas & beat the bosses. CO-OP can be frustrating but once you learn how it works it's actually very good. Don't buy this game solely for a co-op experience, it doesn't work that way. You CAN play the whole game together but as soon as one of you dies, you respawn in your own world and have to go through the tedius process of spawning each other again. It's best to play it mostly on your own and just summon your friends when you reach hard parts/bosses.

Brutal and Unforgiving
4You'll need plenty of patience to play this game, but it does give a massive sense of achievement when you reach that net bonfire. Not for the impatient or feint of heart. But if you want a challenge and found Skyrim a little top easy, give Dark Souls a crack.

In the Mouth of Madness
5Japanese game industry is dying, right? Not in this case. From Software delivered an outstanding experience, which combines current-gen tech with hardcore gameplay straight from the dark ages of 8 and 16 bit systems. You will be constantly punished, you will die, you will throw your controller, but in the end, when you finally accomplish Dark Souls there will be nothing but love for this grat title. Buy it, support creative and art like productions!

Prepare to die.....a lot
5Dark Souls has awesome graphics, music, and gameplay. This game is a true masterpiece but be warned, it requires both skill and dedication. However, the self-satisfaction you get truly outweighs any struggles you may encounter.
