Dark Souls

4

Dark Souls is very fun and has a very distinct feel. It's not anywhere near as hard as it is made out to be, however but still quite hard by today's standards. I would recommend Dark Souls to anyone who likes the old days when you discovered how to finish a game yourself rather than having your hand held.

What games should be like

5

Dark Sould should be made mandatory for everyone to play. It has amazing depth; every enemy encounter requires strict attention or you will suffer, but there's many ways to approach any situation. Remember that feeling of awe you got from Shadow of the Colossus? You never know when a seemingly insurmountable foe is going to present itself. And it never becomes frustrating. Enemy patterns can be learnt so that you only have yourself to blame when you die for the thousandth time. Gaming bliss.

Dark souls

An excellent challenging game and also at an excellent price. The difficulty in this game is reminiscent of the retro era. One wrong move and you die. The story is dark, graphics are impressive and the monster bosses are enormous. Think devil may cry and skyrim merged together along with the difficulty of old school games - and you have Dark Souls.

Good

4

The gameplay in Dark Souls is good once you get used to the controls, and the combat, especially melee, feels very imersive and enjoyable. It is a challenging game but it's very rewarding when you manage to defeat a boss or finish an area. Great fun, to both play or watch a friend playing, as you feel just as tense and worried as they struggle through dungeons.

Pure RPG

5

Dark Souls is a medieval dark fantasy role playing from FROM Software, a spiritual successor of the game Demon's Souls. The story itself is very minimalistic, but the art work, voice acting and game mechanics are perfect, turning this game into an absolutely pleasure playing it. At first I was a little afraid of the minimalistic story, since i'm a fan of great story, but this game is the first to change my mind, everything is so well made that you just want to explore this huge open world and face the challenges. This game is Hard, very hard, but not unfair, you need to use strategic play and patience to overcome some obstacles. In fact, the game does a very good job introducing you in this game style. Some reviews categorize this game as a hardcore rpg game, and I can't agreed more. Is not because is hard, but because there's a lot to learn about weapons, armors, items, reinforce weapons and armors, change the property of basic weapons, etc. you will need to study the game. One amazing feature os this game is the online experience, you are always online, you see other players resting in bonfires, passing by you in form of phantoms. For example, when someone reach one of the bells in the game you can hear is triumph ringing the bell, just amazing, and this is just the simple part of the online feature. This game for me deserves a 9,5 out of 10, just because sometimes there's some framerate issues that are noticeable but don't ruin the experience.

Prepare to die, again and again

4

Dark Souls is hard and not for the faint hearted. RPG fans will be well served, design your character choosing class and starting object, then launch yourself into the hardest most fist pumping satisfying game of 2011. The first thing to accept is that you will die, this however is not all bad the levelling system works by giving you souls for everything you kill. When you die these souls are lost however if you can get back to where you died you get all your souls back, providing you can fight your way back through the re-spawned enemies. These souls are also the currency so, do you level up or buy that shiny new sword, or spell. I highly recommend this game.

Fantastic Game

5

This is not only the game of the year, but game of the generation. It is brutally hard so not for kids or people that think camping in COD is the height of gaming skill. The last game I was sucked into this much was Final Fantasy X... ten years ago. This game is on a par with Ocarina of Time. Buy it.

Best RPG Dungeon Crawler so far

5

I will start saying that this is probably the best game that I've played in any platform, of any genre, EVER. Now, don't take it as a fanboy comment: I did not played the first part, I wasn't expecting much of it, and I was not influenced by the media, friends, or anything. I bought it because I normally enjoy RPG and dungeon crawling games, and judging by a few youtube videos, it looked good. Let me tell I wasn't quite expecting a game as good as this. The combat mechanics are simply genius and extremely well polished. Any one of the many bosses in this game (around 20) is better than 90% of the final bosses on other games. The scenarios are gorgeous and the variety of enemies is just overwhelming. The only negative is that a few levels suffer from low fps, but I see that being fix in a future patch. This game is definitely very hard. You'll die, a lot. But you'll not feel frustration and the game does a great job motivating you through the levels. Great, great game from From Software. It goes straight to my Top 5 games ever, close to the top.
