Definately NOT True Crime!
3This game is supposed to be the disbanded continuation of the True Crime series. As a massive fan of True Crime, playing as a cop in LA and NYC, I had so much love when this game was to be released. To be able to travel the streets of Hong Kong to me sounded pretty awesome, but the truth was far from it. The graphics genuinely look like the new games producers picked up a beta copy of the game out of a trash can, and put it on Hong Kong's blackmarket. Trust me, this is no GTA or Saints Row, or any other modern game in question. It's not great. If it were released in 2006, I may have been impressed. Also, the gameplay itself it amazingly repetitive. It's basically getting into a fist fight every mission until you finally (halfway through the game) get a gun. And of course, firearms were one of the core principles of the True Crime series. But I can't be completely bitter. The story line is quite good, and fairly addictive. It's different, that's all I can really say. But overall, I would not recommend this game if you want to continue your True Crime gamer mode. Unfortunately, it has to be said... the game is dead. Well that is, unless Square Enix decide to make a new Sleeping Dogs game starting from a blank page of A4 paper and choosing a 'grittier' urban location (e.g. London) and bring back some of the core principles of the series. But I cannot see that happening anytime soon!

Fantastic
5I just have to say that Sleeping Dogs is an amazing game. After being initially let down by the game being dropped and re-named from True Crime to Sleeping Dogs I was a bit apprehensive about what the game would turn out like. Now I realise how wrong I was. This game is fantastic and in my opinion it was well worth the wait. The storyline, combat and graphics are top notch and make you want to come back for more. I found myself playing for 5 hours straight one time and not even realising it, the game is that addictive and cripping. I have to say it's one of the best games I have bought this year and I wouldn't be suprised if it was voted as game of the year.

Sleeping Dogs better than GTA? Yes.
5I've never really been a fan of the whole free roaming thing, GTA was fun but it never got me to want to play more. In GTA I would never play the main story, I'd just go around town shooting people and blowing up taxi's. Whereas, I Sleeping Dogs I'm kinda addicted. Straight away you become involved with a "morally ambiguous" character named Wei Shen who as an undercover cop has to infiltrate the triads and feed information back to police without being caught. Wei Shen does then get a bit too involved with the triads, gaining emotional attachments which affect his lawful choices, which in turn leave Wei Shen morally torn. Aside from the amazingly gripping story, you have a whole new place to explore, Hong Kong. It is a stunning sight and a nice change to the repetitive Manhattan scene found in many games. You can walk through the street and here unique conversations from passerby's. Mission's are also of many around the city so, it you decide to take a break from the intense story, you have side missions to keep you occupied or just go exploring driving around town in cars you've just "action hijacked" and maybe buy a pork pun. This, I think will be my favorite game for a very long time and keeping me playing for days even after the main story missions are over.

Sleeping dogs
5Great game - it's a better version of GTA. You can free run and there's more fighting in it. The only thing that lets it down is you can't go online with it.
