5Excellent quality product. The slipcase and steelbook look brilliant together and have a great feel, exactly as you'd hope, and the artwork really pops, making it stand-out in the collection. You couldn't ask for more. The art cards are a nice addition, not the best I've seen but far from the worse and in-keeping with the steelbook. The film looks excellent for the upgrade to UHD though of course it does show up any of weaknesses that time and era-CGI have, but that's only to be expected. Basically, if you enjoyed Hulk before, you're still going to enjoy it, just with better sound and image quality. And the steelbook looks great.

4Much like Tim Burton's 'Batman Returns', this bizarre & hypnotic take on the Marvel Comics icon is a great showcase for the style & talents of it's director, but not for the actual subject matter. Ang Lee was a bold choice back in 2003 to helm the first attempt at bringing the big guy to life, but while it features a classy cast of actors & some terrific crew players (the editing, cinematography & score were Oscar nom worthy), the tone was cinema marmite. While the psychological family drama elements are commendable, this is at the end of the day about a green creature that wants to smash! Yet, flaws & all, it is worth the watch before we all embraced the definitive MCU display from Mark Ruffalo. The UHD transfer is stunning in colour & detail, the sound is exemplary & the added bonus of it's steelbook presentation is one of the best designs around today. It's a shame that 'The Incredible Hulk' reboot - a far better movie for the fans - is so average in it's 'upgrade' quality on 4K in comparison to this one. Was Universal not wanting to put in the effort due to their shared rights with Marvel Studios? That makes me angry ....

3In the 17 years since this debut'd at the Box Office it's had a mixed reception over time. Some appreciate what it stood for, some see it as a failure. I'm of the mind that sees the good aspects in the picture despite it's divided audience. I'll get the cons out of the way and say that the biggest detriments this story has is it's leading male protagonist and the pacing. Eric Bana is a good actor, but he just wasn't Bruce Banner. His delivery just seemed wooden and unremarkable. The pacing has a lot to be desired as it takes the better part of 40 minutes just to get to the first transformation and even then it's very short-lived. I think the mistake Ang Lee was trying to make a deep psychological character study within an action blockbuster. It worked for the TV series that starred Bill Bixby as David Banner and bodybuilder, Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk as that was a weekly series where David would help others with their problems whilst dealing with his own affliction. Given that Marvel like to have their movies with a roller-ball feel where the pacing never slows, then this failed in that aspect. What this movie does do well is with the supporting cast in Jennifer Connelly's Betty Ross & Sam Elliott's General Thunderbolt Ross. Jennifer's delivery and acting makes you believe that she's a sympathetic scientist that is able to see Bruce within the Hulk and acts as his reason for salvation. Sam has a much different take on the character as more of a competent leader that is more concerned with maintaining order as opposed to borderline obsession of ridding the world of an uncontrollable force of nature in his comic counterpart. The Visual Effects still hold up exceedingly well as the photo-realism is sharp with ILM making the Hulk look like a real living creature as opposed to the less than stellar photo-realistic creature from 2008. However, there are inconsistencies with regards to shading. He can be a very dark green and then florescent green. Aside from that, Effects are just fine. All-in-all, I think you will find something to appreciate from this picture. It's not the best superhero flick I've seen but it's certainly not the worst.

5Ang Lee was a great choice to create a modern Hulk Movie. He was in great demand after Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Marvel believed he was the man to bring the Green Guy to the big screen. Comic Book films were becoming hugely popular in the early 2000's with Spiderman and Xmen setting the box office alight. Lee's faithfulness to the source material and comic book style is shown here, but in some cases it divided critics. Eric Bana, a newcomer at the time was a great choice for Bana as was Jennifer Connelly for Ross. A stellar cast all round and they all brought their A-game. Now onto the steelbook. This is a beautifully created Steelbook with a card cover which show The Hulk smashing through holes. A must for collectors and Hulk fans.
