Classic JRPG

4

Tales of Graces F (Special Edition) is pretty much a classic JRPG experience. Despite its linearity compared to other games in the series it still offers a variety of content thanks to Dualizing. This system allows you to not only combine items to create new ones but also infuse weapons and armour with shards, and add extra effects to equipment. There's also a variety of sidequests that become available as you progress through the storyline and additional scenes to discover. The combat system is action oriented and it allows repeated use of abilities by expecting CC. Unlike previous games these points recover quickly in battle making the overall system more dynamic. The game also offers a lot of replay value with 4 different difficulty settings as well as different bonuses. Overall, it's a solid game and surely recommended to any JRPG fan out there.

Great game!!

Tales of Graces F is a medieval-like fantasy jrpg; the game is really focused on the characters and the story, and there are many (voiced) dialogues between the characters and main plot sequences are drawn in anime-style. Every character has a rich and interesting background, and a set of uniqe abilities. I like the combat system but you have to get used to it and find the most powerful combos and equip them if you want to master the battles. You can control only one of your characters (the others are controlled by a configurable A.I.), but you can change the one you control during the combat. At the end of every combat sequence there is a different scene depending on who defeated the last monster and on who you take to battle (only 4 characters at any time). Some of the skits are really hilarious. The graphics are also very smooth and pleasant. This game is a must have if you like the JRPG genre.

Absolutely Brilliant

Tales of Graces F may be an up-port of a Wii game, but it's phenomenal in all the little things it does. Combat: 5/5 You could play this game solely for the gameplay; it's actually that good. There's a plethora of flashy and useful skills, each of the characters attained play extremely different so there's surely one for everyone if you're struggling with Asbel. The implementation of flash step and the guard mechanism in this game is amazing, even more so when they exchanged the tedious system of TP for its better counterpart CC. Unlike TP which has a limited use and costs money to obtain, regulating the game from being fun to smash normal, block and dodge until boss fight and then SPAM ARTE SPAM. I don't believe that's how a game should be played, and it's great because ToG isn't played like that. Each battle is varied and as you fight more and understand the system, there's a longing for more difficulty and greater challenge. Music 3/5: The music here is really forgettable, but it's not as if Tales games are really known for their music. There are some good tracks here and there, but it's ultimately kind of bland. Story 4/5: Predictable. The lead character is annoying throughout the game and often times I would wonder how common sense dictates him to be the lead anyway, but video games. It's not bad, but it's not good. I'd rather not have friendship forced down my throat every two or three lines, and an indecisive cast for the most part trying to save the world. But Pascal. So it's redeemed. Graphics: It actually looks nice. It runs smoothly, and other than some minor facets, the graphics in battle work extremely well. I'm actually surprised by how beautiful some of the locations are and the vastness of the towns and landscapes. Yes, HD towns. Overall 5/5: Play this game, it is amazing in all rights. You can disregard the story and music and play for the experience that is ToG.

I'm having great fun playing Tales of Graces F. The RPG gameplay and story are really nice. There are very few Japanese RPGs on PS3 and this looks great and is really good fun to play. Highly recommended!

Old School JRPG

This is one of the best JRPG games you can play in your Ps3. I didn´t put 5 stars because its graphics aren´t as good as it could be, but if what you are looking for is a good jrpg game, this is your game.
