I loved the original fable but I never actually played the lost chapters. This game was exactly what I was hoping for. I got to play one of my all time favourite games again as if it where a whole new story. The graphics and sounding have improved immensely while still keeping the same feel as the original game, rather than looking like fable 3. I haven't fully used the smart glass along with the game but it seems like a good idea and really lets you compare the remake with the original. I would highly reccomend this game to anyone who enjoyed the original, or to first time players as it is a very enjoyable game.Report this review
If you played the original Fable you might find yourself buying this because those rose-tinted glasses suggest it'll be great! It is great, but you'll also find yourself tiring rather quickly. Despite the lovely new HD graphics underneath it's still the original Fable: clunky combat mechanics; slow start; same old jokes and fishing spots; same old quests and sidequests. If you've never played the original Fable, or never tackled the Lost Chapters content, then grab this, it's one of the best RPGs ever made full of humour, great RPG systems like good/evil, armour sets, character skill customisation and, above all, chicken-kicking. Taking your character from boyhood (it's old school, you can't be a girl) through to manhood serves as the introduction to the game's systems, thereafter you're out into the big wild world discovering all the crazy and nasty denizens of Albion, the travelling merchants, the Bandits and getting plastered with the locals in every pub you can find. You can communicate with NPCs via 'emotes' on the D-pad, work on building your Renown by showing off your battle trophies, own and upgrade your own home, even get married (and divorced) - pretty much everything you could ask for in a good RPG is present, including fishing! Fable, for its time, was way ahead of the pack in terms of originality and content, well worth a visit. Or a revisit if you're really itching to decapitate a bandit or three with well-placed arrows.Report this review
