William Lyons founded the company that was to become Jaguar in Blackpool in 1922. His first vehicles were side-cars for motorcycles, however he quickly realised that having his products seen on the racing circuit was a sure-fire way of raising his company's profile. So, by the mid 1930s William had moved his company to Coventry and was now building sports cars!
Blessed with a team of highly talented engineers, Jaguar produced the XK120, a highly powerful, car that was capable of speeds of up to 132mph, and the subsequent C-Type and D-Type models that really set the Coventry marque on the road to racing and commercial success. Indeed, victories at the 1951 and 1953 Le Mans with the D-Type Jaguar made the company a famous name worldwide, a position it still holds to this day.
Including superb archive footage and interviews with Jaguar's competition director, Raymond 'Lofty' England and ex-driver Duncan Hamilton, "Racing Through Time - Jaguar" is a must-have for all fans of British motor racing.
