FF XIII-2

I'm from Chile and I made the purchase from Zavvi. No problem! The game arrived in excellent condition. FF XIII-2 is an excellent sequel with new moves and gameplay options. An amazing story from start to finish. Recommended 100% for those who follow the Final Fantasy series, and those who haven't yet.

Final Fantasy XIII-2

After the small fail and fan disappointment from the first final fantasy 13, square enix strikes back with the game everybody was longing for. This game is like a reversion of the previous, with a more awesome story, a free world and better graphics. A must have

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Final Fantasy XIII-2 brings great improvement as to the late released Final Fantasy XIII. Still keeping the same dark and melancholic atmosphere previously presented , this tittle brings innovated battle system, like the summoning of fiends to your party, a large variety of maps as opposed to the single routed maps of it's precedent and a set of extra puzzles to brake the monogamy of walking and battle presented in the form of temporal rifts. All in all, a good game that brings back a nostalgic feeling.

A nice following

This is a direct sequel to FFXIII. As for what they did for the X and X-2, the universe and gameplay are the same for both games so I won't describe it here. What you must know about the game, is that's it's even better than the XIII with less corridors. You play Serah (Lighting's sister) and a man we don't know called Noel. What happened at the end of FFXIII has been altered, and you're going to travel through time to try to correct the time. You must find artefacts to open the gates and access different parts of the timeline. It has nothing to do with the previous game, but you'll encounter characters you already know. With you, there's a 3rd character who is a monster that you'll tame, and he will fight with you. You can have 3 different monsters. It's a system similar to Dragon Quest Monster Joker, except that you must feed them with items (it looks like the FFXIII items updates except it's a crystarium). If you liked FFXIII, you'll like this one, and if you didn't like it, you'll like it anyway!

The new battle system in Final Fantasy XIII-2 is awesome. The game is really great but it sometimes has issues with framerate drop.

A second chance

It's a well known fact that Final Fantasy XIII divided both its fans and the media and scored some of the lowest review ratings in the franchises history. It was by no means a terrible game but it's severe linearity was a bitter pill to swallow in a franchise known for offering freedom and entertaining distractions, XIII offered none of this. It was a game stubbornly focused on story telling and the game-play suffered because of this. Final Fantasy XIII-2 then was a chance to put right the wrongs of its predecessor and unite the fans once again. Does it succeed in doing this? Well for the most part yes. The biggest change with the sequel is the freedom it offers the player, XIII-2 is not a linear game. By means of the "historia crux" a time traveling device you gain access to early on, Serah and Noel can jump into any location they choose by unlocking gates with "artefacts" found through exploration and story progression. The environments are also a clear attempt at making linearity a thing of the past. The maps this time around are far less restricting and offer plenty of opportunity for exploration. There are hidden items everywhere, as well as secret locations that are often only accessible by visiting the area later on or by unlocking a different time period. The combat in XIII-2 remains mostly unchanged. The paradigm shift system returns, only now the third party member slot is taken by a monster recruited through obtaining its crystal in battle. Each monster fits one of the paradigm roles, Medic, Commando, etc. You can assign three monsters to your paradigm deck at a time and shifting paradigms is how you switch out monsters in battle. Unlike Serah and Noel monsters do not level up by gaining "CP". They grow in strength through the use of items obtained in battles or bought at a shop. They also differ in that there is often a level cap on monsters with only monsters tagged "late bloomer" reaching level 99. It is possible to invest a huge amount of time into recruiting monsters and building up an unstoppable party. It is an enjoyable concept that works extremely well. One aspect of the game that does not work quite so well is the story. It is obvious that story telling has taken a back seat with this sequel in favor of providing superior game-play. For the most part of the game the story never evolves into anything more than a quest to find Lightning, Serahs older sister that vanished after the events of XIII. The story does pick up slightly during the final chapters but when the game ends it feels as though little was resolved and many questions left unanswered. Though the story may be weaker than in XIII the game-play is excellent and a vast improvement. Anybody looking for a solid, enjoyable RPG experience should pick up this game. There has been better Final Fantasy games but XIII-2 feels like a huge step back in the right direction.

A sequel really slap

The plot of Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the continuation of it's predecessor. The basic premise is quite simple: the protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII has disappeared and the aim is to find her. So far so good, but now you can train the monsters that you defeat during the adventure! Up to three monsters can be selected and it is always good to have more than one available, because they have specific roles and change with the Paradigm Shift. Final Fantasy XIII-2 builds on the foundations established by it's predecessor and has eliminated the major structural defects. Square Enix has produced a J-RPG with all the trimmings that should make any lover of the genre happy. With fiction, complex and deep!
