A Quiet Place Part II: Everything We Know, From Cast To Release Date

After several delays, the release of horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II is finally around the corner as cinemas reopen across the world.

The 2018 original directed by The Office’s John Krasinski was a surprise hit, and thus the sequel has become highly anticipated amongst audiences.

But what can we expect from the film? Here’s everything we know about A Quiet Place Part II so far, from release date, to cast and story.

What is A Quiet Place Part II about?

Specific plot details are currently shrouded in secrecy, but we do know that it will pick up with the Abbott family as they continue to try and survive in a post-apocalyptic world which is filled with blind monsters that hunt using their hearing.

The finale of the first film saw Krasinski’s Lee sacrifice himself to save his wife Evelyn (Emily Blunt), daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds), son Marcus (Noah Jupe), and newly born child.

Krasinski will appear in this sequel though in flashbacks, as part of the story will go back to the very start of the worldwide crisis, when the monsters first attacked.

Meanwhile in the present day, Evelyn and her kids flee from them home venturing into the outside world where they will discover new threats.

The officially released plot synopsis reads: “Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realise that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”

These ‘threats’ are probably other human survivors, maybe even the new characters being played by Djimon Hounsou and Cillian Murphy.

Who is in the cast of A Quiet Place Part II?

Paramount Pictures

Krasinski, Blunt, Simmonds and Jupe will all reprise their roles from the original film as the central Abbott family, but they will be joined this time by some new faces.

As mentioned above, both Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Hounsou and Peaky Blinders star Murphy have joined the cast of the sequel.

Whilst we don’t know what role Hounsou will play, Murphy will portray a character called Emmett who has been revealed as being “a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit”, which doesn’t exactly sound promising for the Abbotts.

It’s likely that Hounsou’s character is Emmett’s friend, but we will have to wait and see whether the pair are friends or foes.

Who has written and directed A Quiet Place Part II?

Paramount Pictures

The same creative team are back for the sequel, with Krasinski once again in the director’s chair also penning the script alongside his co-writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.

Is there a trailer yet for A Quiet Place Part II?

Two trailers have been released for the film, with the second being advertised as the final one.

Both are quite similar, giving us a glimpse at the action and thrills to expect from the sequel, also confirming that the story takes place both in the present day and in the past, with flashbacks to just before the monsters attacked.
