WandaVision Release Date Confirmed For 15th January

A release date for upcoming Disney+ show WandaVision has finally been confirmed, with Marvel announcing it will premiere on 15th January.

Marvel Studios made the announcement via WandaVision’s social media pages, with a small teaser revealing the premiere date.

They then confirmed this on their website in a brief press release, revealing that the show will air later than the expected December 2020 date.

The show will be the first in a line of television series from Marvel Studios, which will be intrinsically tied to the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Each one will be on streaming service Disney+ and either feature returning characters or new heroes, or a combination of the two, with many of the shows being limited series running for only six episodes.

Joining alongside WandaVision will be The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and many more.

Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision follows couple Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) as they live their idealised suburbian life, but of course, not all is as it seems.

Of course Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War leaving fans wondering how on Earth he can be back in the MCU, with speculation rife that the series will partly take place in Wanda’s mind as she imagines a version of life with her partner set in the 1950s.

Teyonah Parris also joins the cast as an adult Monica Rambeau, the kid from Captain Marvel, whilst Randall Park and Kat Dennings will reprise their MCU roles as Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man And The Wasp) and Darcy Lewis (Thor) respectively.

MCU newbie Kathryn Hahn meanwhile will play a mysterious character described as a ‘nosy neighbour’.

Disney+

And remember what we said about these shows being intrinsically tied to the movies? Well we do know the events of WandaVision will directly lead into sequel Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, which will star Scarlet Witch alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master Of The Mystic Arts.

Of course when it comes to the rest of the plot and how the show will impact the MCU, we can only guess for now, but all will be revealed in January next year.

We honestly can’t wait!

WandaVision will premiere on Disney+ from 15th January 2021.
