SEGA revealed a whole bunch of Sonic The Hedgehog announcements today during a very special streaming event.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the original game, a Sonic Central event showcased several upcoming projects featuring everyone’s favourite hedgehog.
This included a look at several mobile events, an update on the Sonic Prime Netflix animated show, the reveal of the remaster of Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and finally the announcement of a new flagship game.
You can watch the trailer here:
The cryptic teaser really doesn’t reveal much at all, just that a new mainline Sonic The Hedgehog game is coming in 2022 from the Sonic Team (who previously brought us Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces).
We also know that the new game will land next year on multiple consoles including the PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X, but apart from that everything else is a mystery.
The trailer shows Sonic in a forest, picking up speed as he starts to run, which causes some sort of digital effect to surround him. In his track Sonic leaves behind an enigmatic runic symbol, something we are sure Sonic fans will be trying to crack as we write this!
Hopefully more information will be revealed soon!
