1. Elf  ‘Cotton-Headed Ninny-Muggins’ Xmas Jumper

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that in our search to find the best funny Xmas jumpers, we landed upon this classic movie: Elf.

Since it was released in 2003, Buddy (the movie’s eponymous character) has become a recurring face around December time.

Buddy’s quotes are some of the most memorable in the comedy genre, with the classic ‘cotton-headed ninny-muggins’ being our personal favourite.

Will Ferrell, the actor whose voice will no doubt echo when you see this jumper, can be thanked for his impeccable line delivery.

2. Call Of Duty ‘Stay Frosty’ Xmas Jumper

Traditionally, Call Of Duty is not known for its use of humour, but when lines are taken out of context, there’s very little that can’t be turned into a pun.

In military speak, the phrase ‘stay frosty’ is intended to mean ‘keep a level head’. However, this jumper takes a more literal approach, depicting what appears to be Captain John Price transformed into a snowman.

That should make those arctic missions a tad easier, we suppose.

3. Darth Vader ‘Piano Player’ Xmas Jumper

As any fan of George Lucas’ critically acclaimed sci-fi movies will tell you, the Star Wars franchise tells a story about family. And none know that better than Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith who — no matter what burdens he is facing as joint ruler of the Empire — will always make time for his kids, Luke and Leia.

Who could forget the day when he invited Leia to the Death Star and gave her a free room with a friendly robot butler? And how about Luke? He was struggling with his lightsaber skills on Bespin, so dad-of-the-year Vader gifted him a brand-new hand.

It’s really not surprising that he sets aside his duties on Christmas to play some piano for his loved ones. What a great guy!

4. Drax ‘I Don’t Know What Christmas Is’ Xmas Jumper

If you asked him, Drax The Destroyer (a member of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy) would say that nothing goes over his head, and while we don’t doubt that his reflexes are quick, we suspect that his grasp of Terran/human traditions isn’t as great as he would like to believe.

Nonetheless, we can’t fault the guy for his enthusiasm. Despite his tragic backstory, Drax presents himself as a man with a fantastic sense of humour, and for that reason alone, we couldn’t leave him off our list of the best funny Xmas jumpers.

5. Looney Tunes ‘The Reason There’s A Naughty List’ Xmas Jumper

Among the characters of Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny is definitely someone who is unlikely to escape Santa’s Naughty List. Mischievous and vexing, his entire character is defined by his tormenting of the rabbit hunter Elmer Fudd.

Honestly though, we can’t say that we blame him. Who wants to end up as a side course next to the Christmas turkey?

6. Rick And Morty ‘Mr. Meeseeks’ Xmas Jumper

If you’ve seen the animated series Rick And Morty, you are well aware of the existence of Mr. Meeseeks, the rather strange-looking creatures whose sole purpose is to complete the task for which they are summoned.

Although they are highly motivated by the fact that their very existence is terribly painful, there are some tasks that are beyond the capabilities of Mr. Meeseeks. Such a task could be teaching Jerry Smith how to take two swings off his golf game or — in this case — arranging the perfect Christmas.

7. Stranger Things ‘On The Naughty List’ Xmas Jumper

Do you enjoy dark humour? We sure hope so, as this design pulls from one of the most terrifying (and gruesome) plot points of the fourth season of Stranger Things.

Through a bedroom window, we see the antagonist of the season, Vecna, pointing at Max Mayfield, who — spoilers ahead — is one of the villain’s targets over the course of the nine episodes.

Playing the role of a sadistic Santa, the terror of Hawkins has a different approach to punishing those on his naughty list, and sadly, the absence of presents is the least of Max’s concerns.

Let’s hope that Kate Bush isn’t fully booked on the 25th of December!

8. The Big Lebowski ‘Dreaming Of A White Russian’ Xmas Jumper

Those familiar with The Big Lebowski will be unsurprised to hear that Jeffrey ‘The Dude’ Lebowski is unconcerned about the traditions of the festive season. He would much rather indulge a white Russian (a type of alcoholic cocktail) than feast upon a Christmas dinner — though don’t think he won’t do both.

To celebrate the Dude’s love for his favourite tipple, this funny Xmas jumper combines the words of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas with something more appropriate for a man of Lebowski’s tastes.

9. Superman ‘Santa’s Helper’ Xmas Jumper

This design makes it onto our list of the best funny Xmas jumpers not because it’s an absurd take on the Man Of Steel, but because it’s wholly accurate.

Clark Kent / Kal-El (better known as Superman) is exactly the type of character who would assist Santa’s delivery of presents. Furthermore, this is entirely possible within the world of DC Comics, for Father Christmas exists in this fictional reality.

Isn’t it fortunate that he has a superpowered helper to push him down the chimney?

10. National Lampoon ‘Merry Christmoose’ Xmas Jumper

Last but not least, we have a funny Xmas jumper inspired by the comedy classic National Lampoon’s Vacation.

Featuring the mascot of Walley World (a moose), this design brings back memories of the Griswold family’s eventful trip to the fun park and all the laugh-out-loud moments that transpire along the way.

This is a must-have wardrobe addition for people who are old enough to have enjoyed the film when it was released in the ’80s (and those of you who have recently joined the party).
